HRMC - Who we are
While the Highway Riders may be a relatively new group on the block, the club consists of seasoned veterans of the roads. We pride ourselves on being one of the most consistently visible clubs, attending every rally, charity/day event and whatever else we can get our grubby little paws on. In addition, we foster good relationships with other regional Motor Cycle clubs.
Take a ride past the Shell Garage in St Johns Road, Pinetown on any given Sunday between 8 and 9 and you will see our distictive shield while we prepare for the morning ride. If you feel the urge, just introduce yourself and you'll be welcome to tag along - if you can keep up! Seriously though, we cater for everyone - if you just want to take a nice relaxing cruise, we'll wait for you at the turnoff to our destination. We never leave anybody behind.
Highway Riders have a passion for Motor Cycle riding and we want to do this in the safety of numbers. We are a close-knit group of individuals from all walks of life who regard biking safety as paramount and friendship as special.
We are a structured club with a President, Vice President, Road Caption and Webmaster as office bearers. Having said this we are democratic and riders and pillions are regarded as full club members.
HRMC Constitution
MEMBERSHIP:
By invitation only. Interested parties are welcome to ride with the club unless asked not to. Acceptance as a member is by vote of all members of the local chapter and judgment of the chapter officers. The colours and any club regalia are and will remain the property of Highway Riders Motorcycle Club and will be handed back at termination of membership. New members will be charged a determined levy at the time of issue and a pro-rata repayment (dependant on condition) will be considered on return of same.
DISPUTES:
To be in writing and handed to the President. The chapter officers will deal with disputes and concerned parties will be called in for resolution. Should resolution not be able to be found, the offending party will be asked to leave. The President's judgment is final.
OFFICE BEARERS:
Office bearers of HRMC will remain so until they choose to resign, or are ousted by majority vote of the club members. This will be decided at a meeting convened for the purpose of elections. The unaffected officers must take a count of members requesting such a meeting and decide if it is warranted. One person with a grievance does not immediately justify such extreme measures. In such a case, all unaffected officers will be called in to arbitrate between the parties, before further steps are taken.
These meetings will be conducted in a fair and impartial manner, with all parties permitted to state their case. Members must agree to abide by the decision reached at the meeting.
Proxy votes WILL be allowed - Some members may have a valid reason for not being able to attend and every member must be permitted their voice, if at all possible. This will erase any doubt as to the fairness of the final decision.
SUBORDINATE CHAPTERS:
May only form if approved by the parent chapter officers. The founding chapter officers retain the right to disclaim any subordinate chapters.
CONDUCT:
No member shall at any time be found drunk while wearing colours unless at exclusive biking events and behavior is maintained. Similarly, any member who is deemed to be riding dangerously will be excluded from the ride unless they correct this practice. |
